INRC Forum 11/07/23: Recep Buğra Uludağ and Serhat Cağdas.
Tuesday, November 7, 2023, @ 8:00-9:00am PT you are invited to attend an INRC Forum talk from Recep Buğra Uludağ and Serhat Cağdas of Özyeğin University.
Title:
Bio-realistic Neural Network Implementation on Loihi 2 with Custom Microcoded Neurons.
Abstract:
In this presentation, we will demonstrate how a bio-realistic neural network can be implemented on Loihi 2. In particular, we will illustrate the implementation of Basal Ganglia that performs simple Go/No-Go task. In this implementation, we will use Izhikevich neuron model implemented as microcode. Overall, this presentation will demonstrate the feasibility of implementing computationally efficient custom neuron models on Loihi for realizing bio-realistic neural networks.

Bio: Recep Buğra Uludağ is a 2nd-year Master's Student at Özyeğin University, supervised by Asst. Prof. İsmail Aktürk. His primary research interest is bio-realistic spiking neural networks, brain inspired learning paradigms/rules and neuromorphic hardware-software codesign. Before joining Özyeğin University, He earned his BS in Electrical and Electronics Engineering at TOBB University of Economics and Technology where he worked on RSFQ neuromorphic circuits.
Bio: Serhat Cağdas is a Phd Student at Istanbul Technical University, supervised by Neslihan Serap Şengör. He has also been a research assistant at both Izmir Institute of Technology (2016-2018) and Yalova University (2018-present).
His research interests include computational neuroscience and neuromorphic hardware. Serhat's research focuses on understanding the motor control in the brain and developing neuromorphic systems using motor learning insights.
Earlier he worked as an embedded software engineer (2013-2016).
