Announcement: Request for Proposals for sponsored INRC Projects

Announcement: Request for Proposals for sponsored INRC Projects

Intel Labs is offering funding to academic groups for new INRC projects.

We are currently accepting proposals for academic project funding and we expect to fund several research projects in the first half of the year. The submission deadline is 1 March 2023 for funded proposals.

Prior RFPs have supported neuromorphic researchers around the world leading to technical advances and impactful publications in the areas of robotics (adaptive control, visual odometry, SLAM), online learning (e-prop, gesture and olfaction-inspired few-shot learning), neuromorphic deep learning (backprop-trained LSNNs), sensor processing (event-based vision, chemical sensing), speech recognition, vector symbolic architectures, Bayesian optimization, SNN algorithmic complexity theory, among others.

This version of the RFP reflects the progress made to date and Intel’s priorities for neuromorphic research in 2023 and beyond. Intel is offering funding for compelling projects that are well aligned with Intel’s research priorities. Project durations are expected to be 12 months.

Please refer to the revised RFP for details:

Info Session

We hosted an info session at 8:00 - 9:00 AM Pacific Time on 7 February 2023. This presentation outlined the proposal process, offered deeper discussion of the research vectors and opportunities described in the RFP, and provided an opportunity for Q&A with Intel Labs staff. Check out the recording and slides below:

Proposal Submission Process

To submit your proposal for funding, you must complete the proposal template provided by Intel, including the Algorithm Assessment for RV2 proposals or the Application Assessment for RV3 proposals. You may attach additional relevant project documentation to the template.

Submit the proposal to Intel by emailing the completed materials to inrc_project_proposals@intel.com. If you are not already an INRC member, you must also submit an application to Join the INRC as a Research PI.

Proposals should be submitted to Intel by 1 March 2023 (AOE).
